So it’s poetry month. It’s also Camp NaNoWriMo and I’ve committed to writing 10,000 new words on The Illustrious Client this month. I’ve also committed to writing a new poem each day. I’m 400 words behind on the novel, but I’m 3 for 3 on the poems. I’ll catch up on the novel. I had to re-read the entire thing and reboot myself. It’s going well today.

I’ll be attending an all day writing workshop this Saturday. The workshop is on critical character development and characterization techniques. It is an 8-hour workshop that promises to delve deeper than any I’ve taken before on this topic. I’m excited to learn something new on a subject I think I know about already. Delving deeper is something I believe in. Continuing education is something I’m committed to.

Most artists continue to study their craft throughout their lives, to polish and hone their skills. I plan to do so for as long as I live. Do you? How so? What is your latest pursuit?

  1. You doing better than me. I thought I’d write a poem a day but I must be four days behind already. And the novel’s languishing behind the yardwork.

    • Oh well, yard work. I went out in my pajamas yesterday between raindrops and staked my rose tree which my neighbor knocked down with her RV. That’s the extent of my yard work for now.
